Im Rahmen der Reihe „One Book, Two Cities“ der Public Library in Indianapolis und der Stadtbibliothek Köln überträgt die Stadtbibliothek Köln eine Veranstaltung mit John Green in der Public Library seiner Heimatstadt Indianapolis live per Skype.
„Ich war ein Nerd und hatte kaum Freunde“ sagt John Green über seine Jugend. Heute ist der 37jährige nicht nur als Schriftsteller ein Superstar, sondern auch in der Parallelwelt des Internets. Bereits mit seinem Romandebüt „Eine wie Alaska“ (2007) erlangte er Kultstatus unter jugendlichen Lesern. „Margos Spuren“ und „Das Schicksal ist ein mieser Verräter“ wurden weltweite Bestseller, letzterer in über 40 Sprachen übersetzt und verfilmt. Green erhielt zahlreiche internationale Preise, u. a. den Deutschen Jugendliteraturpreis 2013.
Mit „Vlogbrothers“ auf Youtube erreichen John Green und sein Bruder Hank ein Millionenpublikum. Hier präsentieren die „Nerdfighter“ eine Mischung aus Alltagsthemen, Philosophie und Comedy.
As part of the international campaign “One Book, Two Cities” The Cologne Public Library will host an event via Skype, with American author John Green (Green will skype from the Public Library in Indianapolis). This event will be held in English!
When John Green was asked about his childhood, he replied “I was a nerd, with few friends.” Today, John Green may still be a “nerd” at heart, but he is also a world renowned writer and Internet sensation. Green gained “cult status” among many young readers following the success of his first book: “Looking for Alaska” (2005). Paper Towns (“Margos Spuren”) and The Fault in our Stars (“Das Schicksal ist ein mieser Verräter”) were both worldwide bestsellers, and the latter was translated into over 40 languages and also made into a Hollywood style film. Green has received numerous international awards, including, but not limited to The German Youth Literature Prize (2013).
With his channel “Vlogbrothers” on Youtube, John Green and his brother Hank created a video series that has millions of followers. On this YouTube channel, John and his brother also created several “Nerdfighter” videos, which feature a mix of everyday subjects including philosophy and comedy.
